Refractive surgery or Lasik surgery is the most advanced modes of surgery available in today’s world. This surgery is for vision correction and the most correct and precise form of surgery available in today’s world is the Lasik surgery. This form of surgery uses corrective laser to repair defects of the cornea and the results are generally perfect. But no form of surgery gives a hundred percent success rate and many of the patients who have undergone this form of surgery suffer from problems related to vision.
This problem is not really serious and is of minor proportions but still nagging. The patients have to wear a particular type of contact lens which corrects post surgery problems. These lenses are actually gas permeable or GP lenses. These glasses give razor sharp vision and are not comparable to eyeglasses or other optical aids. The people who have undergone Lasik surgery have different response to Laser light.
They have different healing times and people who take more time to heal form a refractive surgery are likely to suffer from such problems. People who have undergone this surgery often have nagging health problems like headaches and driving problems especially at night. Such patients should always trust those GP lenses after their surgery. Such is the power of these corrective lenses that it will remove al vision problems after a refractive surgery.
Lasik is a corrective surgery of the cornea of the eye and it basically repairs the front surface of the eye’s cornea and any irregularities in the surface of the cornea are corrected by this method. But this corrective surgery is not basically same for every person. Some people have good effects and some people do not get satisfactory results from this kind of surgeries. The reason is simple, the corrective surgery is not uniform at all points of the cornea and this is what gives rise to these problems.
The gas permeable lenses are smooth and rigid by all means and this is very beneficial to the eye because the eye can keep its shape and so does the lens and it does not break or bend under any circumstances. So it is very important to wear these lenses. They are gas permeable which is the most striking feature about these contact lenses. Gas permeable lenses allow the passage of oxygen and therefore keep the constant supply of oxygen to the eye. This keeps the eye free of corneal infections.
Hard lenses and GP lenses are completely different things and they should not be confused with one another. The hard lenses are obsolete now days and they have been replaced by the gas permeable or GP lenses.
