Contact lenses

The idea of wearing contact lenses is still fairly new among people and many of them still opt to wear eyeglasses.  They feel comfortable with eye glasses and depend up on it for their eye aid and vision problems but it should be noted that wearing eye glasses can also make you face a few problems like lights and reflection which causes to pierce eye and create problems. Weather conditions of different kinds also can make you feel uncomfortable when you wear eye glasses especially rain. Contact lenses in this regard are very helpful and can come in handy as they are not affected much by external environment but during bad weather conditions there is a chance of dust particles getting inside.

Two types of contact lenses are available in the market and these are soft lens and the rigid gas permeable lenses. Soft lenses consist of around 25% to around 80% water and that is why they are soft and easy to wear lenses. One can take longer to adapt to rigid gas permeable contact lenses but soft lens are quite easy to get used too. But rigid contact lenses have an advantage here and that is the soft lenses do not provide the kind of crisp vision these rigid lenses give and they are even made of more durable and stronger than soft lenses. Rigid lenses are less susceptible to dust and particle deposit where as soft lenses do regularly face this problem and rigid lenses are less expensive as well.

The life span of rigid lenses is around 2 to 3 years but soft lenses need regular replacement and can prove to be more expensive as well. There are various kinds of soft lenses which are available and there a few types which can be worn for a year or so. There are also disposable lenses which are available and they can be discarded every month as well.

Many types lenses are available which can be worn for short period of time and they are used for convenience and the kinds of lenses which are further categorized as disposable and non disposable. There are also daily disposable lenses which can be thrown away at the end of the day and extended wear lenses which can be worn over night and for a week or a couple of months. The lenses which are available and can be disposed off daily have saved us from cleaning the lens at regular basis and have made it easy for many people to use lenses. This lenses which are available come up with many guidelines and rules to follow regarding usage which needs to adhered to strictly or it’s your eye which is at stake.
